About Me
I am a mother of two who knows that with support, knowledge, and faith, women have infinite resources within them to birth their babies. I have been independently studying pregnancy and birth for ten years and have been a student midwifery for the past year at a school in the United States. Over this past year I have attended two skills conferences at my school that I found full of invaluable knowledge. Due to changes in the regulating of midwifery education in Canada, I have chosen to temporarily put my midwifery studies on hold and focus on supporting women in the role of a doula.
Prior to developing my skills and knowledge as a doula, I attended the University of Calgary where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies. I then went on to work in several social service agencies where I could use my knowledge of complex women's issues as a crisis counselor. I recently completed the HypnoBirthing course and an Aromatherapy program where I have a special interest in working with pregnant women and birthing families.
I am an individual born to serve birthing women. Birth is my passion - my calling. Both of my great, great maternal grandmothers were midwives and I feel their blood coarsing through my veins every day. I am passionate about women's abilities to birth babies in a gentle, loving way - the way birth is meant to be. I will give you information to help you to make informed choices. I will listen to your decisions. I will honor you, your partner, and your family. I will do everything I can to help you have the birth you desire and deserve! I work with and respect all types of birthing families.
